2024 Election Season Starts Now!

Election Season kicked off in New York with the April 2 Presidential Primary. Your next opportunity to vote is when New York residents are called to the polls on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 to participate in the annual budget vote and school board election for the school district in which they reside. Town of New Castle residents reside in one of six (!) school districts - Chappaqua Central School District, Ossining Central School District, Bedford Central School District, Yorktown Central School District, Byram Hills Central School District and Pleasantville Union Free School District. Of these school districts, Chappaqua and Ossining have Public School District Libraries, so residents of those school districts will also find library budgets and library board of trustees candidates on their ballots. This year, school districts are subject to the early vote by mail (no excuse absentee ballot) law so all eligible voters may vote early by mail if they chose. Early mail ballots are available from school district clerks, check your school district website for more information.

Next up is Primary Election Day on Tuesday, JUNE 25, 2024, with early voting starting on June 15. For hours and locations, visit the Westchester Board of Elections websiteVoters must be registered with a political party in order to vote in primary elections. You can check your party affiliation here:https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/ Changes may be made using the NYS voter registration form, available at https://citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com/register-to-vote, or through the new NYS Board of Elections Online Voter Registration portal accessible through my.ny.gov, but will not take effect until after both primaries.

There is evidence that voting is habit forming, so be sure to flex your voting muscle at every opportunity!
